22. The self-embrace

In order to find out what pleases us sexually, and to help develop our self-esteem, we need to dedicate time to exploring our own bodies. That's what this exercise – the ‘self-embrace’ is all about!


Welcome to our third and final breathing session, designed to be practiced on your own and increase mindfulness.

All too often, we leave the role of exploring our own bodies entirely up to our partner. But, as you know, showing affection for our bodies is essential for developing a strong sense of self-esteem, and discovering what truly makes us feel good. That is what the exercise we’ve called ‘the self-embrace’ is all about!

In this exercise, you will learn to show ourselves some love and kindness, and, above all allow ourselves to breathe.


Choose the most comfortable position for your body. Feel free to move around a little, move from left to right and back and forth to find the right balance. We are aiming for as little tension as possible.

Close your eyes, or if you wish, leave them open, softening your gaze.

Concentrate on your breathing. Take a deep breath in through your nose and exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this breathing cycle 3 times.

Once you feel connected to yourself and are conscious of your breathing, focus your attention on how you feel.
